Maha Abbasi is a foreign qualified Mental Health Counselor. She completed a dual Master program from Columbia University on the Fulbright Scholarship. She has certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety and Complicated Grief Therapy. She has worked as the Special Education Needs Coordinator at Beaconhouse Newlands, working with the school wide population and providing them with an inclusive set up. Furthermore, she has taught the Level 3 Certificate course at Therapy Works.
Her experience comprises of working in multiple settings – both public and private settings, equipping individuals to be contributing members of the society. She works with adolescents and adults in an individual therapy set up, dealing with psychological and emotional concerns presented. She believes in creating the space for people to share and introspect, tapering it to fit the needs of each client individually, within her eclectic therapeutic orientation.
